Parameter

3.1.1 components

The parameters under aircraft product systems are categorised under the system level and component level. The parameters shown within these categories were developed by the participants during Think Tank sessions when challenged to come up with relevant systems and components to decarbonise aviation.

Component level improvements to an aircraft could lower an aircraft's mass (e.g. lightweight composite brackets), lower an aircraft's drag (e.g. improving wing-tip geometry), and improve an aircraft's propulsive efficiency (e.g. advanced turbine blades). The components an aircraft is built from feed the overall efficiency of the aircraft.
