Hydrogen boil-off reuse systems capture and repurpose the gaseous hydrogen that inevitably evaporates from cryogenic liquid storage tanks during ground operations. Rather than venting this boil-off gas, which represents both an efficiency loss and a safety risk, these systems recover the hydrogen to fuel airport operations. Challenges in developing these systems lie in establishing localized capture infrastructures and integrating cost-effective absorption systems at airport gates.
